Taipingshan, Dongyanshan: 3 Live Cameras — forest parks
Three cameras in the forest parks of northern Taiwan. A logging-railway station, a deck the afternoon fog climbs to, and a cedar ridge near Taipei.
What you can see
These three are forest recreation areas run by Taiwan's Forestry Agency, all within reach of Taipei.
Taipingshan has two cameras. One looks at the station of the old logging railway, which now carries visitors instead of timber. The other is a viewing deck, and its description says the fog climbs up to the deck in the afternoon. That makes it one of the few cameras on this site where the interesting thing arrives on a schedule.
Dongyanshan is a ridge planted with cedar, close enough to Taipei for a day trip. The trees are in rows because they were planted, which is worth knowing before you decide the forest looks strange.
Two of the three are about what people did to the mountain - a railway and a plantation - rather than the mountain itself.

A viewing deck on a ridge close to 2,000 m. A sea of cloud often settles below it, and by afternoon the fog climbs up onto the deck itself.
When to watch
The operator does not publish a viewing season, and we do not invent one here. The camera description does say that fog reaches the Taipingshan deck in the afternoon.
Taiwan is only one hour behind Japan, and there is no daylight saving. 15:00 in Taiwan is 16:00 in Japan.
So the fog on the deck arrives at Japan time mid-afternoon - an hour most people are awake for. That is the practical value of a one-hour offset: you do not have to set an alarm to see a named event on a foreign camera.
