Fukuoka Live Cameras in Japan — 5 official webcams
Four rivers — the Onga, Yamakuni, Chikugo and Yabe — and a Tsushima leopard cat at Fukuoka Zoo. The cat is a nationally listed endangered species; this is a captive animal.
What you can see
Four of the five are river cameras from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism; the fifth is an animal camera from the Ministry of the Environment. All four river cameras are video, so the water is visibly moving.
The Tsushima leopard cat camera is at Fukuoka City Zoo and films a cat in care. In the wild this species survives in Japan only on Tsushima, and this is one of the few cameras on the site pointed at a living creature. It is nocturnal, so it is often asleep during the day.
The four rivers reach four different seas: the Onga into the Hibiki Sea, the Yamakuni into the Suo Sea, and the Chikugo and Yabe into the Ariake Sea.

The largest river in Kyushu, nicknamed the wild river. Near the mouth the tides of the Ariake Sea reverse the direction of flow.

Yabe River
Yame, Fukuoka · River
It rises among the tea fields of Yame and runs to the Ariake Sea. Many weirs and sluice gates, so you can see water being distributed by hand.
When to watch
The Tsushima leopard cat is a wild cat found only on Tsushima and at serious risk of extinction. What this camera shows is an animal kept at Fukuoka Zoo as part of a breeding and public-awareness programme. Cats being cats, it sleeps through much of the day; early morning or late afternoon gives you a better chance of movement.
The Chikugo is the largest river in Kyushu, crossing Fukuoka, Saga and Oita. Watch it together with the Saga cameras to follow one water system up and down.
