Bird Feeders: 4 Live Cameras — Central America and Arizona
Four cameras in Costa Rica, Panama and Arizona. Pointed at feeders, they have birds on screen far more of the time than a camera searching the forest.
What you can see
Four cameras aimed at a feeder. A camera on a whole forest leaves the birds small and far away; at a feeder the place the birds will come to is already decided, so they arrive close and stay a while.
The macaw feeder (Punta Islita, Costa Rica) stands in front of the visitor building of a macaw conservation project, with two more feeding stations set in a guanacaste tree behind it.
The fruit feeder (El Valle de Antón, Panama) belongs to a lodge in the Cerro Gaital hills at about 600m, where the climate is like spring all year. Behind it are a thin thread of the Guayabo river and a garden that runs straight into the forest on the slope. The feeder is restocked several times a day.
The hummingbird feeder (Soberanía National Park, Panama) is the observation deck of the tower on Semaphore Hill. In the middle of tropical rainforest, white-necked jacobins and violet-bellied hummingbirds come one after another to the sugar water.
The southeastern Arizona feeder sits in mid-elevation oak woodland and grassland in the Huachuca Mountains, run by the Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory.

The feeder in front of a parrot conservation group's visitor building, with two more feeding stations in a Guanacaste tree behind. The operator gives 09:30 local time, and 07:15 on Wednesdays at the photography feeder.

A lodge feeder about 600 metres up in the hills of Cerro Gaital, where the climate is like spring all year. Behind it are the thin flow of the Rio Guayabo and a garden that grades into the forested slope. The table is restocked several times a day.

When to watch
One of the four has hours from its provider. The macaw feeder is best at local 09:30, and on Wednesdays the birds come to the photography feeder at 07:15. Costa Rica is 15 hours behind Japan, so local 09:30 is 00:30 the next day in Japan and Wednesday 07:15 is 22:15 on Wednesday in Japan.
The other three give neither season nor hour. At a feeder birds are there whenever it is light, so the time difference is enough to decide by.
Panama is 14 hours behind: local 07:00 is 21:00 in Japan and local 18:00 is 08:00 the next day. Arizona is 16 hours behind and keeps no summer time: local 07:00 is 23:00 in Japan and local 18:00 is 10:00 the next day.
So all four are in daylight during the Japanese night — as overseas cameras go, easy ones to watch from Japan.
