Three cameras in dry country. A valley of sandstone cliffs, two billion years of rock in one canyon, and a desert view that reaches 130 km.
What you can see
All three are in dry country, where the rock is bare. Nothing is hidden by trees, so the landform itself fills the frame.
Zion looks up the canyon from park headquarters. The sandstone cliffs called the Temple and Towers of the Virgin all fit in one frame. Because it points upward, there is a lot of sky, and cloud movement reads clearly.
Grand Canyon holds two billion years of rock layers. Around sunrise and sunset the canyon walls turn red, and the view changes completely with the hour. Of the three, this is the one where the time you open it matters most.
Big Bend is a wide view over the Chihuahuan Desert, and on a clear day you can see mountains 130 km away. It refreshes every 15 minutes. In practice that makes it less a landscape than an instrument for measuring how clear the air is today.
They belong together because what you can see changes hugely from day to day. The same camera on another day looks like a different one.

When to watch
The operator publishes no viewing season, and we will not invent one here. The red walls at dawn and dusk, the 130 km sightline and the 15-minute refresh all come from the camera descriptions.
The three straddle two time zones: Zion and Grand Canyon are Mountain, Big Bend is Central. Measured: 03:00 Japan time on daylight time, or 04:00 on standard time, is noon Mountain and 13:00 Central (checked 2026-09-04).
Grand Canyon alone is worth catching at dawn or dusk rather than midday, and sunrise there falls around the middle of the day in Japan. The other two see farther in the dry heat of the afternoon.
