Kanazawa Castle Park: 3 Live Cameras in Japan

Three cameras in Kanazawa Castle Park: the turret row on Sannomaru square, stone walls mirrored in a garden pond, and a palace going back up.

What you can see

All three are fixed on one spot. Of the four cameras the prefecture streams, the three here are everything except Kenrokuen.

Sannomaru square looks at the Hishi turret, the Fifty-ken storehouse and the Hashizume gate turret, standing in a row under white lead tiles. You can see how many people are there, so event days are crowded.

Gyokusen-inmaru garden was the lord's private garden and was rebuilt in modern times as a stroll garden around a pond. Stone walls and trees are mirrored on the water, and a windy day breaks that reflection.

The Ninomaru palace rebuilding is the site where the Kaga domain's seat of government is going back up. Inside a temporary shelter roof, pillars rise and the roof goes on. Of the three, only this one never shows the same picture twice.

A castle camera usually shows what does not change. What makes this park unusual is the one camera that does.

When to watch

Here the weather matters more than the hour. The garden is about reflection, so the calmer the day, the cleaner the stone walls sit on the water. Rain roughens the surface and the reflection goes.

Sannomaru square is a camera that shows people. An event day and an empty morning look like two different places.

The palace site is better visited with gaps between. An hour later nothing has changed; a month later the pillars are different.

Kanazawa is snow country in winter. The operator publishes no best season, and we do not set one here.

If it isn't showing

The source is the Parks and Green Spaces Division of Ishikawa Prefecture. The prefecture's site policy forbids copying its photographs, so we place no sample image and send you straight to the feed.

All four run at once on one channel, so an embed that names the channel cannot pick one camera. We therefore link rather than embed. How to tell why a screen is blank is in What is happening when a live camera shows nothing.

The fourth camera on that channel, Kenrokuen, sits under Cherry Blossom. All three here also appear on Ishikawa. Castles and shrines are gathered in Temple and Shrine Approaches and World Heritage.

Agencies publishing the cameras on this page

The footage belongs to each agency. This site is an unofficial guide, and each sample frame was copied once per camera under that agency's terms of use.
