Kiyomizu-zaka: 2 Live Cameras in Japan — Kiyomizu-dera
The slope up to Kiyomizu-dera and the crossing at the bottom of it, two live video feeds from the Kyoto National Highway Office.
What you can see
Neither of these two cameras is pointed at Kiyomizu-dera. Both watch the way up to it.
Kiyomizu-zaka is the sloping approach. Souvenir shops line both sides, and the flow of visitors shows up as a band of people. Early on you can see the paving stones; as the day goes on the slope fills in.
Higashioji street at Gojo-zaka is the crossing at the bottom of it. Tour coaches and city buses turn here, so the traffic tells you how busy the day is before the slope does.

The junction at the foot of the climb to Kiyomizu-dera. Tour coaches and city buses turn here, so the traffic tells you how busy the day is before the slope itself does.
When to watch
Both are live video, so there is no refresh to wait for.
In the morning the paving stones are visible. The slope fills as the day goes on, so morning is when you can walk it with room.
The crossing changes first. Buses back up before the slope fills, so watching the two together tells you whether it is about to get busy or about to thin out.
