Four cameras along the peninsula. A summit that collapsed in the largest eruption of the 20th century, a 10 km caldera, a vent 330 m above an icefield.

The four run along the Alaska Peninsula, where the hollows left behind after a mountain collapses - calderas - dominate.
At Katmai, the largest eruption of the 20th century happened right next door in 1912. The summit that collapsed then now holds a caldera with a lake in it. The oddity of this mountain is that the place that erupted and the place that sank are not the same place.
At Aniakchak, a caldera 10 km across and 1 km deep survives whole, with no ice in it. The high rim encloses it, so the inside has its own weather. There are days when it is clear outside and cloudy only within. That is not a fault.
At Veniaminof, an active vent stands 330 m above the ice surface inside an ice-filled caldera. Ice and fire land in one frame - rare even on this site.
Pavlof is one of the most frequently erupting mountains in Alaska. It is a 2,518 m cone, with craters on the north and east sides near the summit. Watch either side of the summit rather than the peak itself.
The reason to keep the four together: calderas survive in four different ways - filled with a lake, left bare, filled with ice, or still erupting and still a cone.

When to watch
The operator publishes no viewing season, and we will not invent one here. The 1912 eruption, the caldera dimensions, the rim giving the inside its own weather, and the crater positions all come from the camera descriptions.
Alaska time is 17 hours behind Japan on daylight time and 18 hours behind on standard time. Calculated: 03:00 Japan time on daylight time, or 04:00 on standard time, is 10:00 in Anchorage (checked 2026-09-07).
So the small hours in East Asia are their late morning. Aniakchak is the exception worth remembering: the inside of the caldera has its own weather, so it can be white even in broad daylight. That is the mountain, not the hour.
